Your role

As a Staff Engineer, you will lead the design and evolution of our platform architecture, mentor engineers across teams, and drive technical excellence across the organization, ultimately shaping the next generation software for e-mobility and smart energy.

In a compact, fast-growing team, we develop software for the next generation of E-mobility solutions. That means not just building applications, but jointly building a new team and platform, with the associated challenges. 

Your main responsibilities are

• Take ownership of the full life cycle of our products — from understanding the underlying problem, designing scalable architecture, to implementing, testing, and releasing features.
• Design and lead the development of secure, high-performance systems that power our financial SaaS platform.
• Develop automated tests to ensure performance, robustness, and reliability — including edge cases and usability concerns.
• Monitor and operate the products in production, using observability tools to detect bottlenecks, resolve bugs, and continuously improve reliability.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering to implement new systems and components that improve platform performance, CI/CD pipelines, developer experience, and overall product quality.
• Drive technical excellence within the team, modernizing and scaling both the current and next-generation of our white-label SaaS platform.
• Actively mentor and support engineers within and across teams — guiding design decisions, sharing knowledge, and helping grow technical skills and ownership.
• Contribute to the technical vision and architecture of the platform, with a focus on long-term scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and engineering excellence.

You recognize yourself in:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent through experience)
• At least 8 years of work experience in the position of Backend Software Engineer in an agile organization, preferably product-led
• You have attestable knowledge of PHP, SQL, working with queues (RabbitMQ) and noSQL (Redis) ór you have an extensive and varied experience in alternatives
• Experience in working with dockers/ containers is a must
• It is a plus if you also have knowledge of Symfony, CI/CD and devops-related activities
• You are not daunted by breaking down monoliths and legacy code into full-fledged macro-services, refactoring existing code and improving quality
• You are keen to iterate on code, develop and improve long-lived products, finding and resolving performance gapsYou enjoy working in a young, fast-paced, fast growth environment
• You are proactive and a quick learner and continuously improve yourself
• You have an excellent command of the Dutch and/or English languageAnd you recognize yourself in our core values
